Everyone is freaking out because Mamura is supposedly letting her go and Suzume is back to square one with Sensei. I beg to disagree.
First of all, Suzume was not just worried about Shishio. She also considers and thinks of Mamura.
It’s not just him chasing after her while she blindly chases after Sensei. Suzume is truly moving forward, facing in his direction with all her might. Her thoughts, although were triggered by what happened to Shishio, led to Mamura at some point. She CARES about what Mamura thinks.
What’s better is that even though Suzume said that “she cannot do anything” thereby hinting that she need not leave, Mamura told her to “go”. Mamura knew Suzume was confused and to ease that feeling, she needed to see Shishio.
He could’ve tied her down. She was his girlfriend and there was no need to rush because Yukichi said it wasn’t serious. She even tried to convince herself to stay and if he left it at that, she really would have stayed but then he said go. He wasn’t letting her go but he was giving her a choice, a chance to decide for herself. And that is the beauty of Mazume. Mamura doesn’t oblige Suzume to become a perfect girlfriend. He doesn’t force himself to her, nor does he attempt to confuse her so that she would look his way. He is calm and composed(but also cute and blushing<3). He knows what Suzume wants to do next and he gives her the peace of mind to do so.
Lastly, those little panels of Suzume flashbacks,
I think that was to reinforce trust. That Mamura trusts in Suzume and their relationship. That there are indications that she is looking his way. That sending her there wouldn’t change the way they see and care for each other.
